Photos submitted by Jerry McWilliam and Geoff Norris: From Jerry: All beach renourishment work is now complete on Hutchinson Island, and the result is remarkable. Just in time for the first turtle nesting, the beach is deep and wide, and the leather-backs are coming ashore to nest. Take a look at some Before & After shots! From Geoff: Dredging work started in early April and proceeded from Jensen Beach south to IRP. It would seem that the dredge ship obtained the sand several miles offshore. It would then anchor about a mile or less off shore and attach to a pipe which came ashore near the Aquila Memorial just north of Stuart beach. The pipes then ran north or south along the beach to the sites which were being renourished, in some cases a distance of several miles. The first batch of photos were taken from 6th April to about 12th April. The second batch are of the IRP beach about 20-22nd April.
